Home-made Facial and Body Scrub Concoctions and How to Make Them
By Mama Sez
My Spa Experience
I recently went to a Spa
facility for a body scrub and massage with two of my sisters-in-law.
It turned out to be an exciting experience, the three of us being first
timers. At first, we were hesitant to remove every piece of our
clothing, but we just decided to just laugh it off and enjoy. Later
on we began to feel relaxed with the procedure and with the ladies attending
to our naked selves. At the end of our 2-hour spa session, we
felt so reinvigorated and our skin felt so smooth. The new experience,
the pampering and the bonding moments made it all worthwhile.
Benefits of Doing it Yourself at Home
While I was enjoying
the scrub, I was also thinking that the procedure could be done at home.
While the advantages of having it done in a professional spa facility are clear to
me as we have experienced pampering from our lady attendants, doing it at home would have the following
benefits that some people might want to take advantage of:
1. Eliminate the awkward feeling of having somebody else do the scrubbing for you.
2. No need to dress up and go to a spa facility only to be undressed again.
3. More economical because you only need to buy the ingredients for the scrub concoction and nothing else, no other charges to pay.
4. Allows you flexibility in how often you do it and what time of the day. No need to ask for appointment or wait in the lounge.
5. Gives you the option of doing it with your partner as your bonding moment anytime you feel like it.
6. Gives you the liberty
to try out different scrub concoctions and scents.
Body Scrub Recipes
Preparing your own facial and
body scrub concoction is a breeze with the available on-line information.

Facial Scrub Recipes
Sweet and Sour Cleanser made from honey and lime, Sugar and Spice Scrub, Thyme-to-Wash Cleanser and Oatmeal Exfoliating Scrub are natural facial cleansers and these scrub recipes in Spa-At-Home: Facial Cleanser and Scrub Recipes by Maddie Ruud are all worth a try.
Three facial scrub recipes are presented in 3 best natural facial scrub recipes by icebee namely, Water and Baking Soda Scrub, Honey Yogurt Exfoliator and Olive Oil and Sugar Scrub.
The Basic Principle of Scrubs
Basically, you just have to choose an exfoliator to remove the dead skin and reveal the softer skin underneath. Apparently, the most popular and tested natural exfoliators are sea salt, sugar, oatmeal, coffee and green tea. Exfoliation allows the moisturizer to penetrate easily to give that healthy glow. Mix the exfoliator with oil to wet it but not dissolve it like water does. Oils (olive, almond, avocado, etc.) act as moisturizer and rejuvenate the skin. Essential oils are added for calming and soothing effect because of the scent. Adding a few drops will leave your skin smelling great. It could be florals, mint, citrus or other fruity scent...the choice is yours.
How to Prepare Scrubs
The first video shows the actual preparation of the basic coffee and oatmeal scrubs while the next one shows how to make a salt scrub. Notice the recommendation on the oil to use. The first one preparing a facial scrub doesn’t like baby oil saying it might be harmful to your skin, while the second one preparing a body scrub actually used baby oil. We can deduce that baby oil is good for the body and not for the face. It is now up to you to decide which oil to use because this depends on the sensitivity of your skin. For me a safer decision would be to use natural oils like Olive oil or avocado oil.
Now get the materials ready and give yourself some pampering. Get that spa experience right at the comfort of your own home.

I think that I would probably eat the scrub before I had a chance to use it!
An interesting page though. I will point it out to my wife.
Very simple and easy indeed Maita. Last night my daughter and I had sugar scrub and we really had fun :D
Go ahead and pamper yourself, you deserve it.
Yes you can Will, most of them, because they are made from natural ingredients.
I know your wife will appreciate this page and will appreciate you for thinking of her upon reading this :)
Great ideas! I've made a couple, but you've given me more ammunition. thanks!
It's a good feeling to have offered you something. I really appreciate your comment Habee.
I love to make stuff at home. It's fun and you can tweak the ingredients to make your product really unique!
A agree with you Dolores, we only need to know the basics. Thanks :)
great hub! I once had one of those facials in a hotel/spa. All I could think was all those harsh chemicals my face was slathered with! Making your own scrub using ingredients you can find at home sounds safer to me.
You can't completely enjoy your spa experience if you have doubts or don't exactly know the products they use, especially on your face. Making your own facial scrub using natural ingredients makes a lot of sense...sounds like you:) Thanks for stopping by sense4logic:)
I make my own soap. Thank you for the recipe and great hub
Although I love to pamper myself in a day spa, I once in a while make my own body scrubs. Thanks for sharing.
